What a dilemma facing small business today.  The world is going or has already gone Mobile, small business owners know it and realize they can’t afford to be left behind.  They also realize they can’t always afford it.  However, if money is an issue, but you are willing to  spend a few minutes to watch the tutorial videos from WP Mobile Pro, you can make your own mobile site.  Yes, you really can.  And, you’ll be using the same software we use.

Even if you can’t give your new site all the bells and whistles, you can still put an accordion style menu (one with lateral bars to click) and get it started for the time being.  See the example pictured here for the pizza restaurant.  The WP Mobile Pro Themes are attractive by themselves, so you will be just fine.  Some people will say, “oh, I’m not putting anything up until I know it will look just the way I want it to look.

Don’t be one of those people.  The search engines are already rewarding websites having sister mobile sites an advantage in the search results.  In addition, part of most search engine algorithms is the length of time the site has been on the web.  Waiting to put something up for your mobile site is a real mistake you can avoid.

We are very pleased with the results we have gotten from our own mobile website, as well as for our clients’ sites using WP Mobile Pro.  However, we don’t want you to just take our word for it, so we are happy to share some excerpts from Allen Bogdanoff’s website devoted to the various software products developed by Jason Fladlien.

WP Mobile Pro Review: Your Mobile Marketing Solution

WP Mobile Pro is the latest product from the Rapid Crush Software Club to hit the market. If you haven’t heard of the Rapid Crush software club before, you might be familiar with the S3Flowshield wordpress video plugin, which was also developed by the Jason and Wilson.

WP Mobile Pro is a web-based application that Jason and Wilson created that can quickly create mobile sites. With just a few clicks, you can create a mobile version of your website, or a client’s website. A mobile optimized site makes for an easier and faster mobile browsing experience.

Each one of these mobile WordPress themes are customizable and the “Theme” options panel within WP Mobile Pro is very easy to understand – you don’t even have to know any html code to be able to use and tweak your mobile site.

Right about now, you might be thinking: “Okay it’s easy to use. But do I need WP Mobile Pro? Do I need to optimize my website for mobile browsers?”

A few months ago (June 2011), data gathered by Gatner Inc. (that’s an IT research company based in New York) showed that in 2010 and in North America alone, there was $305 million in revenue from mobile marketing. And by the end of 2011, it is predicted to climb up to $701.7 million.

Another research conducted in April 2011 by Google/Ipsos showed that 49% of people who see a mobile ad end up buying the product.

Regular Site VS. Mobile Site

Every marketer knows the importance of having a good-looking site. I’m sure you spent a good amount of time and money developing your website. So is it worth your time to create a mobile version of it? Well, to answer that question, here are some things that you may not know about browsing regular sites on mobile devices:

  • Tables/graphs do not look good on a mobile device.
  • Mobile devices have different orientations (portrait and landscape) and your site may not look right in either or both.
  • Mobile sites are “lightweight” and very accessible.
  • Videos do not auto play or play at all on a lot of mobile devices.
  • Hover effects or drop down menus may not work on mobile devices.
  • Multi-column websites do not look good in mobile phones.

Going Mobile-Friendly

As someone who makes a living online, Jason says that every marketer should always have two money sites: a regular site and a mobile site. But the fact is, majority of websites today are not mobile-friendly. And that’s a shame because a lot of people today are relying on their mobile devices (iPads, mobile phones, etc.) to access the web.

Is WP Mobile Pro The Only Answer?

There are free scripts that can squish your site into a more mobile friendly version but the “finished product” isn’t really as pleasing to the eyes. If you want to give your customers the mobile experience that they want, you should set up a different mobile site for your website. In addition, you can always add a “Go to Full Site” option to your mobile page.

WP Mobile Pro is based on the look and functions of the best mobile sites that are out today. Jason said that he researched the best mobile sites out there, and he patterned his WP Mobile Pro themes on those. You can check out the mobile sites of Olive Garden, BestBuy and Target to see where Jason and Wilson got their ideas for the WP Mobile Pro themes.

What You Can Do With WP Mobile Pro

Aside from being able to expand your reach and your ability to cover the Mobile World, you can use WP Mobile Pro in a number of other ways too. Specifically, Jason and Wilson listed six marketing strategies or ways for you to make money using for WP Mobile Pro:

Constantly Together on Websites for Mobile Phones

It’s probably no surprise to learn European women are increasing the use of mobile phones to access Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media including Twitter.  The dramatic rise you’ll discover soon, is a mirror reflection of what we are experiencing here on this “side of the pond”.  The use of websites for mobile phones appears to be closing in on its predicted crown as the way the majority of people access the internet.  While those numbers aren’t predicted to surpass desktop internet access until either 2013 or 2015 (depends on which survey you believe), make no mistake having websites for mobile phones is critical for small businesses.

Given the rise in mobile internet access, coupled with the “Local” Nature of mobile shoppers and the now rising numbers of social media access we believe local small businesses need mobile websites, and now require Facebook pages as well.  It has been quite a while now since Google visitors in any given day have been surpassed by Facebook users.  Factoring in the boom social media is experiencing due to  the mobile rise in access, a business Facebook page is a must.

A special thank you to the editors of the UK’s, “Women in Technology” news site for these new numbers on mobile use and social media.

Mobile social networking rises 44% in 12 months

The number of people accessing social media websites and apps on their mobile phones has increased by 44 per cent in the past 12 months, new figures show.

Providing an insight into the changing ways that consumers both interact with each other and use technology, the comScore study revealed that in the five leading European markets (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK), 55.1 million people used their phones for social media.

Figures also reveal that the rate of growth in the use of social networking on a daily basis has risen beyond the growth rate of first-time adoption.

This suggests that “the behaviour is becoming even more ingrained into people’s daily mobile lives”, observed Jeremy Copp, comScore Europe vice-president for Mobile.

Almost one-quarter (23.5 per cent) of mobile phone users were found to access sites like Facebook or blogs on their device, with 46.8 per cent accessing them every day.

While Facebook is significantly the most-visited social media website accessed from mobiles, Twitter has seen a 115 per cent increase over a 12-month period and LinkedIn has grown 134 per cent.

The number of people using apps has doubled over the year to 24.2 million.
