Why Do I Need Mobile Marketing?
Well, you probably don’t if you are a ghost writer for a famous author.
However, if you are like most of us in small business, you probably just want new customers who can find you and your business easily.
Mobile Marketing Begins With Websites for Mobile
Let me share a short story with you. The other day an acquaintance of mine who also owns her own business said to me, “Judy, I am so dumb… I have no idea what a smartphone is!” She felt better when I told her she wasn’t the first person to ask me about them and I doubted she’d be the last.
Like most complicated things in general, smartphones can be summed up in just two words…. Baby Computers.
Earlier this year, a survey by Google, the search engine, found that 25% of the people accessing the internet were using either a smartphone or a device like the new iPads. They don’t own, and have no intention of buying a desktop computer.
More startling was that wall street analysts at Morgan Stanley expect by 2015 more that half the people accessing the internet will be using mobile devices.
Mobile devices are changing marketing forever. Newspapers are online, and people read from things called Kindles and Nooks. These are obvious results of mobile marketing. In case you haven’t noticed them, watch the people shopping these days as they text madly away while standing in the aisles.
They aren’t “texting” though…. they are comparison shopping on the web and finding out where they can go get what they are looking for immediately and at the best price.
Here is the good news about all this….. it is not too late to be ahead of most of your competition.
The bad news is that we are enough into the game where you can no longer just throw something up on the web and expect it to work (see the survey results in the upper right hand side bar). We have arrived at the point where what you use for mobile must work for the user.
The week following the 2011 “black Friday” weekend, IBM Coremetrics Benchmark Reports revealed that online site traffic from mobile devices was up Black Friday 157% over 2010. The actual mobile sales that busy weekend were up 210% over last year. Now, if that doesn’t open everyone’s eyes, I don’t know what it will take.
Here is what we here at Mobile Local Website.com think about all this and want you to know whether you hire us to help you or you go elsewhere:
- You need a fully functional and optimized mobile website for your business.
- You need to control your own destiny by owning your site, not renting one.
- You need to avoid the mistake of thinking your regular website will do.
- You need to realize your search results are affected if you don’t have one.
- You need to know by 2015 your large website may be virtually obsolete.
The standard squashed site vs. an easy to use site --
Because many of you who find technological changes as interesting as they are necessary, here is an article citing just ten (10) reasons for going mobile now and not waiting for the crowd to beat you to it.
Hopefully you have found this information helpful and if you need more, please contact us and meet our representatives, genuine, down-to-earth people who really do want to help you go mobile.
In fact, because of them we have developed three different pricing models from which to choose. Going mobile is critical and for more reasons than most people realize it definitely should be done right now. Longevity on the web is a powerful part of the famous Google Algorithm for ranking and now having a bona-fide mobile site has become a necessary part of that algorithm too.
Do it now. You and I both know for your business to remain competitive, eventually you will have to do it anyway. Why not take the opportunity now and do it the right way, and to get it done before everybody else beats you to it. Better to be ahead than to be playing catch up later.
If there is any information you need that for some reason we missed, please contact us and we will provide it to you.
To Your Continued Success,
Judy Culpepper, Founder
